THE GRACE OF GOD TO NOAH
Genesis 6
Focus on Genesis 6: 1-14, 17-19, 22
We must not forget that the word of God concerning death is still as true today as it was in the days of Adam's generation. You will die! This we know as a fact of life. So this is no longer in question, you should ask yourself are you ready for death. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR SOUL WILL SPEND ETERNITY?
God has had a witness in every generation from the time of Adam.
The Apostle Paul wrote of the Greeks:
Act 14:15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
Act 14:16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
Act 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
In a way this passage of the time of Noah will tell us how some of these false beliefs of the Greeks and the Romans could have gotten started.
Since Christ first came to the Earth to save us, HE HAS BEEN OUR WITNESS and WE NEED NO OTHER WITNESS!
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Death may come before Christ returns so we must be ready to die.
In Chapters 4 and 5 we saw that there are basically two groups in the world at this time.
1.) The followers of Cain.
2.) The followers of Seth.
We know that in the time of Seth organized worship of the Lord began:
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began [men to call upon the name of the LORD].
This is the first organized corporate worship on Earth and we need to pay close attention to what happens next. This a "TYPE" of the Church Age leading to the Laodicean Church. God gives us many examples and many "types" of this in His word over and over again.
Think about the phrase:
Luk 17:25 [But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation].
Luk 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Luk 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
1.) God was dealing with "rejection" in the time of Noah.
2.) God was dealing with "rejection" in the time of Lot.
3.) God was dealing with "rejection" in the time of Balaam.
4.) God was dealing with "rejection" all through the time of the Nation of Israel.
5.) JESUS WAS DEALING WITH "REJECTION" AT THE CROSS!
6.) Jesus is dealing with "rejection" in the day we live in now, the Church Age.
Jesus is coming again but:
Luk 18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
Luk 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. {Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?}
We can see what is happening in this world and it is leading to a total "rejection" of Jesus Christ. Will their be any faith on Earth after the Rapture of the Church. Now let's see what happened in the time of Noah as our first example our first "type" or typology as a Bible student would say.
The Apostle Peter and, he mentioned that the Apostle Paul taught this in the early Church:
2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
2Pe 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
If you are willingly ignorant of God's word then study God's word and He will lead you to the truth. We must remember the key to understanding the Bible:
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: [for he that cometh to God must believe that he is], and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Our text:
Gen 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
*****In verse 1: We see the worldly family of Cain. A true statement, ["daughters were born unto them"].
*****In verse 2: [We see the sons, from the line of Seth, those that follow God]. "And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: [then began men to call upon the name of the LORD]."
These "sons of God" are not any of the angels! Angels cannot do these things!
Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection [they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven].
These are the descendants of Seth. The ones from Genesis 4:26:
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
This is the beginning of corporate worship.
We can see the influence that an ungodly person has on the godly person. THE BATTLE OF GOOD AND EVIL BEGINS IN THE FAMILY.
Remember these timeless words of God:
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
From Genesis to Revelation this taught in the Bible:
The very first Psalm:
Psa 1:1 [Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful].
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
The beginning of the Church:
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, [Save yourselves from this untoward generation].
And just before the second coming of Christ:
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, [Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues].
In the Church age we are cautioned to marry in the Church:
1Co 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, [she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; (only in the Lord)].
BUT ONLY IN THE LORD!
GOD SAYS WE SHOULD MARRY ONLY THOSE THAT HAVE FAITH IN GOD AS WE DO!
GOD DOES NOT CHANGE SO THIS WAS THE SAME GOD IN THE TIME OF NOAH!
*****Verse 3:
God says "MY SPIRIT WILL NOT ALWAYS STRIVE WITH MAN"
What are some things we know of the Holy Spirit and Mankind?
1.) The Holy Spirit did not indwell mankind until the Church Age!
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
This did not happen until the Pentecost after the Ascension of Christ back to Heaven!
Compare:
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
to
Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Now listen to these verses of the Body of Christ:
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
2.) The Holy Spirit does restrain sin in all ages but as we read here, He will not always strive with man. Genesis 6:3 indicates we limit the Holy Spirit when we refuse to heed His convicting ministry.
"and they took them wives of all which (they chose)"
These wives they chose were of the daughters of Cain.
God gives the world 120 years to see if how many will come to Him before He destroys mankind from the Earth. As we study this passage we will see a parallel between the Old Testament and the New Testament.
1.) In Genesis 6 we will see Noah ministering for 120 years.
2.) We will see Noah removed.
3.) We will see the flood, Mankind destroyed.
In the New Testament:
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
1.) The Church is ministering through the Church Age.
2.) The Church is removed. (Rapture)
3.) The Tribulation period begins.
The Holy Spirit was given in the Old Testament to select individuals to perform certain task.
*****Verse 4
"And there were giants"
You know I am six feet tall but if I went to a professional basketball game I would be around what I would call giants. Were there some very large people back in the Bible times? We know yes is the answer. We read of many of them.
Did some of them seize power because of their massive size and strength. We know this is true because it still happens in our day. Goliath was a real man. His brothers were also very large. We know that in the time of Israel and King Saul, his only special trait was that he was a head and shoulders taller than anyone else in Israel. Is the Bible talking about these kind of men. Sure but even in when America, George Washington was a giant and he was just a regular man. We have had many heroes and non heroes that have been giants in history. Try to convince the Muslim that Muhammad is not a giant in their eyes.
What we see is the as evil rulers came into power they ignored the truth of God. Verse five explains what God saw.
*****Verse 5
1.) God saw the wickedness of man was great. The Hebrew word "ra/raah" is used here and it means EVIL 440 times in the Bible. It means wickedness 59 times in the Bible. It is not used in any other way.
The Webster dictionary says of wickedness: A departure from the rules of divine law. An evil disposition. Immoral, Crime, Sin, Corrupt.
THIS IS THE WORLD THAT WOULD BE DESTROYED BY THE FLOOD UNLESS THEY REPENTED. REPENT WOULD AND STILL MEANS TO TURN BACK TO GOD.
Psa 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Psa 5:6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
Psa 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
And the righteous say:
Psa 58:10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Psa 58:11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
God will not be mocked:
Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And there is no life without the regeneration of the Holy Spirit:
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; [but the Spirit is life because of righteousness].
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies [by his Spirit that dwelleth in you].
*****Verse 6:
God repented. God turned His face from mankind. Repenting is a change of mind and a change of direction.
Mat 21:28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Mat 21:29 He answered and said, I will not: [but afterward he repented, and went].
It grieved Him:
It is sin to cause God grief:
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Isa 63:10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
1Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
*****Verse 7
And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
You see Enoch had prophesied of this day. God will not do anything that He has not told us He would do and the other side of that is God will do everything that He says he will do.
Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, [but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets].
Enoch prophesied of the second coming of Christ but also of the coming judgment on the preflood people. He did this through the naming of his son Methuselah.
The Name Methuselah means:
The name Methuselah is made up of two Hebrew words. "muth" meaning TO DIE and "shalak" meaning TO SEND FORTH JUDGMENT.
Methuselah had 243 years with Adam and 600 years with his grandson Noah. God sent the judgment of the flood when Methuselah died. Everyday the people on Earth saw Methuselah they knew they had time. They may have felt that he would live forever. They were wrong. Methuselah lived to be 969 years old but that can only be explained by the longsuffering of God. Tack on the 120 years of the preaching of Noah and we can see that God did not want any to perish but He left them that choice just as He does us today. Everyone that have ever lived on this Earth will be judged by the word of God one day. These people had 120 years of preaching from a righteous man but none ever listened. They "rejected" the Word of God! It's to late for them but not for you. God's word is still being preached all over this world.
The Bible says:
1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
and
1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
YOU CAN KNOW THIS POWER TODAY. GOD GAVE US HIS WORD SO WE COULD KNOW THE TRUTH!
*****Our text:
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
Gen 6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Gen 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Grace, the unmerited favor and love of God. Every human being must find "Grace" in the eyes of God. For it is by His "Grace" that we are saved:
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
The "Grace" of God is free to all that repent their sin:
Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
God has more "Grace" than there is "sin" in each one of us:
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
"Grace" comes by Jesus Christ:
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
There is only one way to obtain the "Grace" of God.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
All mankind are redeemed by by the "Grace" of God:
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Though they may say so, there is no excuse for rejecting God and His word:
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Noah had faith in God. Faith precedes action. In other words it is by the "Grace" of God that we can be servants to the One true God.
Paul wrote:
1Co 15:10 [But by the grace of God I am what I am]: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
It is said also that Noah was perfect but this means that he was upright, sincere and blameless before others. In other words in this evil world just before it was destroyed and in front of all these sinful people, Noah was an example of the "Grace" of God in everything he did.
The Bible says:
1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
The Bible says that Noah walked with God. Are we so different from Noah? Can it be said that we(You and I) are walking with God?
Enoch walked with God and was translated that he did not see death.
Noah walked with God and he was saved from the destruction of the flood.
Abraham walked with God and was called God's friend.
Are you a friend to God?
Jesus said:
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Joh 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Noah raised a God fearing family and his family was saved with him.
You see this coming flood's real purpose was not to destroy all other flesh [as much as it was to preserve the lives of those who were not corrupt].
1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, [eight souls were saved by water].
You see these that perished in the flood still had to face Jesus Christ after the cross but only Noah and his family were saved, 8 souls out of millions or maybe billions.
Noah accomplished a great feat in this world filled with violence and corruption. Remembered he also preached to all that would listen to him for 120 years. In reading this passage of scripture we find that it is written in the third person. We never read that Noah said anything. His only contribution at this time is that "he obeyed God".
This is the only thing we need to do to be in the "grace" of God:
Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: [Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man].
Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
We must not lean onto our own understanding!
Pro 3:4 [So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man].
Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
We cannot serve God unless we are obedient to Him and His word!
God is always watching over His Creation!
The Bible says:
Psa 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Psa 53:2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
Psa 53:3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Psa 53:4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
God only saw corruption and notice God says "all flesh has corrupted his own way". When we live in sin we corrupt ourselves. When we live without God in our lives we jeopardize ourselves, our families, our communities and our nations. These at this time of Noah had jeopardized the entire world and we can see it happening again in our own day. The world grows more corrupt every day. Our leaders are corrupt and most of the people are corrupt and NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE.
*****Our Text:
Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Gen 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Gen 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
Gen 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
Gen 6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
Gen 6:22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
God said the world was filled with violence through those same ones that corrupted themselves. IS NOT OUR OWN WORLD FILLED WITH VIOLENCE?. Those that corrupt themselves are the ones that seek their own way and ignore God's way.
This perfect world that was created had degenerated to a point that it had ceased to reflect God's glory and He was no longer comforted by it.
Let's go forward to a time that has not yet come:
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: [for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created].
We know that this passage takes place just after the future "Rapture" of the Church. What we find is that the world has again degenerated to a point that ceases to reflect God's glory and he will be no longer be comforted by it. He removed Noah and his family before He sent the flood. He will remove the Church just before He sends judgment to the world we live in.
WAKE UP WORLD!
(verse 14) Make [thee] an ARK:
In our measurements this Ark would be 450 feet by 75 feet by 45 feet. This would be a floating covered barge. For over 6000 years these same ratios are used in shipbuilding. It wasn't until about the time "that knowledge began to increase"(from the Book of Daniel) before a ship of this size was built again. It is estimated that this Ark would hold the contents of over 500 railroad boxcars. Gopher wood is thought to be Cypress in our day or from the family of the Cypress tree.
Noah was to cover this Ark with pitch on the inside and the outside. Noah became the first shipbuilder and the first zoo keeper of all time. What did Noah do?
Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
The book of Genesis is full of first things and the beginnings of all things but this book of truth also begins our journey through the "types" or the study of "Typology".
Here we see:
1.) Enoch a "type" of the Church. Saved and taken out of that world before the tribulation of that time. Being saved from the Flood Judgment.
2.) Noah a "type" of children of Israel. Saved but going through the future Great Tribulation period. Inside the Ark during the storm.
3.) The Ark itself is a "type" of Christ.
The Hebrew words used for "pitch" a.) kaphar b.) kopher
a.) Pitch "kapher" means atonement:
Exo 30:10 And Aaron shall make [an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood] of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.
We know that Jesus Christ is our atonement and we are covered with His Blood!
b.) Pitch "kopher" means a covering: Covered within and without because this atonement protects all those that believe from sin.
This Ark would have no sails because God would be the "Pilot". If we do not let God be the "Pilot" of our lives we will surely sink in the tribulations of this world we live in.
The word "flood" Hebrew "mabbul": means a deluge
It is God that brought the flood waters. This not a freak happening of nature. There had never been rain in all this time of Noah and we have already stated in an earlier lesson that on any given day if we got all the rain to fall in one day that we get in just one year there is enough water in our own atmosphere to flood this entire Earth about three feet deep. There are those that say it did not flood but they do not say it cannot happen. The proof is on the surface of the Earth where we live. From the highest mountain to the lowest valley clam shells and fish skeletons have been found besides other evidence that show that there is no place on Earth that was not at one time under water. No scientist disputes this fact.
The word "covenant" is used for the first time in the Bible in this passage. In this case it was a mutual agreement by both parties. God would save Noah and his family if Noah had enough faith to build the Ark and gather his family and those animals. "Then thou shalt come into the Ark".
What is the only thing that is required of God?
Gen 6:22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
We need only to obey God!
The world thought Noah was a foolish man. Noah preached the coming judgment of God for 120 years as he built this Ark. There was no other souls but his family that believed what God was saying. They went about their sinful ways ignoring the truth of God. As Typology goes, this whole example in the Bible is again about the second coming of Christ prophesied by the first prophet, Enoch. The world, just as in the days of Noah does not believe. Many in the Church have no faith in God's word. Did this stop the judgment from coming?
Our lesson is to heed the prophecies of the end of this present world. The word of God will come to pass just as it is written!
Open your heart to the Word of the Lord and find "grace" and receive the greatest gift there is:
Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let's pray!
