Solomon's Temple

 Solomon Built the Temple

 Book of 1 Kings 5 and 6

One of the most important things we need to complete any building project successfully is to be committed to it.

We can accept the fact that King Solomon had little if any construction skills, but he now had great wisdom in all things.

What Solomon had was a humble spirit and he sought the Lord for His help.

The next thing that is needed is preparation.

Site preparation must be properly taken care of, and it begins with following the Word of God.

Then you must own the property you are building upon.

David first bought the threshing floor of Araunah:

2Sa_24:18  And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

2Sa_24:21  And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

2Sa_24:24  And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

Then David bought the entire area around the threshing floor.

1Ch 21:24  And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

1Ch 21:25  So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

There should be no doubt who the Temple Mount belongs to.

Remember it was God who gave the dimensions and the details of this Temple to David mphasizing a solid foundation.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Luk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

Luk 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

Luk 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

King Solomon needed to be obedient to the Lord just as we all should be today!

This new Temple was to be a House of the Lord for the Lord's people to worship Him.

This had been a dream of his father David for many years, and Solomon was committed to seeing it succeed.

Solomon's most important task was to seek the Lord!

*****1Ki 5:2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

1Ki 5:3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

1Ki 5:4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

King Hiram and King David had been great friends, and his son Huram wanted the same relationship with King Solomon.

In fact, this King Hiram had told his own son about the great God of Israel even though he was pagan and worshipped his own gods.

We should understand that God would not allow David to build this Temple of Worship because it would have sent the wrong message.

It would be like religions such as the Muslim who are forced to seek Mohammed and can never leave that religion with the threat of death if they do.

There is no personal relationship because there is no Allah.

Just as important, because David was protecting the cause of Israel in great battles with the enemies that surrounded Israel and he certainly did not have time to make such a commitment as Solomon was saying to Huram.

Israel was at peace all the time of King Solomon and he maintained a strong military presence in the regions.

To David God said: 22:8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

This king of Tyre understood these things Solomon was saying.

When the Lord forbids us to do something He is serious about it!

King David had made this entire area to be at peace because of his conquest.

We could say that Israel was the honcho nation during the time of King Solomon.

Solomon said he had no adversaries nor was there any occurrence of rebellion to his rule.

In fact, the nation of Israel was very prosperous in the days of King Solomon.

We know that David spent time training Solomon.

It was Solomon who wrote the Book of Proverbs so we can see what he wrote about his father.

Pro 4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

Pro 4:3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

Pro 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Pro 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

David did everything in his power to smooth the way of Solomon.

David drew up the plans for the Temple according to the plans God had given to him:

1Ch 28:11 Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,

1Ch 28:12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:

David gave Solomon the funds to build the Temple:

1Ch 28:14 He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:

David told Solomon that the plans for the Temple came from Jehovah:

1Ch 28:19 All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern.

And again, David encouraged his son:

1Ch 28:20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

We can see that Solomon was a good student!

Solomon began to understand what his father was saying.

*****1Ki 5:5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

1Ki 5:6 Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

Solomon was committed to building the Temple his father David desired.

Solomon sought to honor the Lord by building a house of worship for the people of Israel.

If we do not learn anything else, we need to know that there needs to be a place to worship the Lord!

There needs to be set times so we can all gather together to encourage one another.

We will need to deal with this lost world.

Solomon renewed the relationship between Israel and Tyre which was Phoenicia and Solomon sought to establish a trade agreement between the two nations, and he did.

Solomon sought workers with skills that Israel did not know at this time.

Notice Solomon did not open the borders of Israel to just anybody, but Israel had a need for skilled laborers.

This should be a lesson for our nation.

Solomon knew he had no excuse to delay this work for the Lord and Israel.

When God calls us for a task it is time to say yes and get busy!

We need to yield to the call of God without hesitation.

The Bible explains this request to Huram from Solomon better in Second Chronicles:

2Ch 2:4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

2Ch 2:5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

2Ch 2:6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

2Ch 2:7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

2Ch 2:8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,

2Ch 2:9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

2Ch 2:10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

2Ch 2:11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.

We must realize that God cannot be contained in any nation but that God is bigger than our little world but He is also small enough to come into our hearts.

God has a purpose for each of us and God is still building upon His Church!

King Hiram agreed with Solomon and a pact was made between the two nations.

*****1Ki 5:10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

1Ki 5:11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

We see that Hiram gave this timber to Solomon and Solomon provided the food to feed these men while the work was taking place.

We can better understand that Solomon asked for cedar trees, fir trees which means cypress, and other timber that was long-lasting.

 Solomon also needed an architect.

Hiram was glad to provide the things that Solomon requested.

We should not be confused the Phoenicians were Pagans.

These cities existed before Israel came into the Promised Land in most cases they worshipped Baal.

Baal means lord but he is identified with the false god Molech where children were sacrificed on his blazing arms.

Baal was also known as the Sun god and there are Pyramids and High places all around the world where Baal the Sun god was worshipped along with the Moon god, and they are still worshipped today under different names.

This is the reason most of these nations no longer exist today.

Hiram’s servants would cut the timber from the forest in Lebanon. Transport it to the Mediterranean Sea, form it into rafts, and guide it through the waters to the Sea Port of Joppa.

Tyre was over fifty miles from Joppa and Joppa was around thirty miles from Jerusalem.

This was no easy task we know because we have the problems our own military had in the Mediterranian Sea.

The Phoenicians were the masters of the sea in that day.

Both men kept their agreements, and Solomon paid the wages of all these workers to make it worth their while.

Our lesson here is that we must do everything we can to seek peace and preserve peace throughout society without compromising the Word of God.

We need to make peace in our homes.

We need to make peace in our schools.

We need to make peace in our workplaces.

We need to treat everyone fair as we know our Lord Jesus did.

We should have peace in our Churches, we have the same Word of God. We do not need opinions, likes, dislikes, complaints, or murmurers among our members. Again, we have the same Word of God.

We should have peace in our government whose goal should be to take care of its people and protect our nation.

The word peace is used 429 times in the KJV Bible so peace is important to God, but may not always be possible.

Rom_12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

There were also workers with stone at this same time.

1Ki 5:18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

This stone cutting was started before the death of King David, and it was time consuming.

David also began gathering many of the supplies needed for the Temple.

1Ch 22:2 And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.

1Ch 22:3 And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;

1Ch 22:4 Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.

1Ch 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

The Splendor of what is called Solomon's Temple began to come to life.

Work began in the fourth year of Solomon's reign.

We can see this was a major undertaking with the tools that were available on that day.

In fact, many of those large stones and the cutting of them is not really understood today how they were able to do such things with just manual labor.

These stones were cut, squared, shaped, and dressed to fit together perfectly without mortar.

Our lesson is no matter what we do for the Lord, do it right while also making a contribution to society.

*****1Ki 6:12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

1Ki 6:13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

1Ki 6:14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

It had been four hundred and eighty years since a group of slaves led by Moses, had left Egypt searching for the land promised to Abraham.

This would have been around 966 BC, so the Hebrews left Egypt around 1446 BC.

All the materials were assembled in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount without the use of construction hand tools axes and hammers and such tool made of iron.

1Ki 6:7 And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

1Ki 6:9 So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

Then God gave Solomon a challenge and a promise.

It appears to me as I read this that the stonework was first completed and then the Temple was covered with lumber and this lumber was gold plated.

1Ki 6:22 And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

In the end, God said this was a worldly sanctuary and cannot compare to our Heavenly sanctuary.

Heb 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

 Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Any place of worship today simply means God is identifying with His people so it becomes a House of God.

God is certainly "gracious" but this does not mean it is a light thing to come into the presence of the Lord.

We should be reverent in the House of God and God will show up.

Today the body of each believer becomes the House of God and we are to honor the name of the Lord who dwells within us at all times and not just while we are in His House of worship.

Those large stones teach us of a solid foundation which is in Christ Jesus.

If our lives are not built upon Jesus Christ we are doomed to destruction.

Without Jesus Christ, we are separated from God and doomed!

Without God, there is no hope, not in this world or the next!

We should also understand that just being in a Church building is not enough. God only looks upon those with a pure heart as we saw in last week's lesson.

A wicked person entering a church building is still a person with a wicked heart and will remain that way until they claim the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of their old life.

Many today do not want to repent but maintain their sinful ways and sin is according to the Word of God and not public opinion.

God created us to have fellowship with Him, but He cannot look upon sin and, in His wisdom, He sent the Lord Jesus to pay our sin debt and if we accept this fact then God will deal with us His own children!

God gave us free will to decide this on our own!

 Amen

The House of God

 Building the Tabernacle

Book of Exodus Chapters 36 through Chapter 40

We love our freedoms here in the USA but we are slowly giving up our freedoms to corruptness.

There is one freedom we had better be willing to fight for!

Of all the freedoms we must maintain, it is the freedom to Worship that we had better cling to the most!

When we have this freedom, then we need to build places to gather and worship!

Heb 10:23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Heb 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Heb 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We see that this is a command of the Lord who is to be the object of our worship!

It is those who are going to worship who should make donations to the construction of this worship center and these donations are to be given willingly with no strings attached.

The key to our worship of the Lord Jesus Christ is the setting aside of our own desires of the flesh.

If we go into a worship service thinking only of what Jehovah can provide for us, then we have gone for the wrong reason!

Only as we give heed to the Word of God and "rest" in our Savior, can it be said we came to worship our Holy God!

Col 3:5  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Col 3:6  For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Col 3:7  In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

It is only when we can ignore our flesh, that we can be free to enjoy the worship of our Awesome God.

We begin with something that is never heard in the modern Church Era.

*****Exo 36:4  And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;

Exo 36:5  And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.

Today in every place of worship we only hear that we could do more if we had more.

People need a place to worship much more than they need to figure out how to spend or in many cases to save that donation!

These people finally began to realize they were becoming a part of something incredibly special, at least most of them did.

Today we raise money to see what we can do with it, when we should make better plans for the ministry and raise what it would take to accomplish that ministry.

I have found that most Christians are generous, but these same Christians do not like to see waste!

Mat 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Sometimes too much can cause corruption in the spending of these offerings!

Remember we are not talking about tithes. The tithes are commanded, and they too are to be spent wisely and for the upkeep of the Church buildings and Church ministries, those key ministries of the Church, such as making disciples.

After salvation must come discipleship!

Most of the modern-day Church has forgotten about sacrificial giving and refuse to give even the tithe.

Most modern Churches have strayed from these two key issues!

Maybe then we could hear our pastors say as Moses said.

*****Exo 36:6  And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing.

We should understand this principle!

From last weeks lesson we must remember that too much that the Lord has provided is spent on false worship!

If the Lord has given us a work to do, He will lay the financing of that work on the hearts of the people to contribute what is necessary.

Where many a Church fail today is acting upon their own thoughts and undertaking projects before the provision of that project has been made.

I am not speaking of a work of "faith" here.

We should clearly understand the gifts that come by human means can seldom be used to gain a Heavenly Blessing!

We seem to forget that Jehovah knows what He is doing, and He uses the Holy Spirit to accomplish His wishes.

If God is not in it, it will surely not succeed!

The giving to the work of the Lord is a privilege and is not intended to ever become a burden!

This is not to say we are not to give sacrificially!

Whenever all these things are met according to the ways of the Lord, the Holy Spirit will also raise up qualified people in which this work will be assigned.

*****Exo 37:1  And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:

Exo 37:2  And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about.

We should understand that the Ark symbolized the throne of God and His presence among the believers.

We must keep in the forefront of our minds, that all those who are ignorant of the truth of our Savior are bound for Hell!

All those who cannot relate to the truth of Jehovah, just do not know about Holiness.

They do not know how merciful and loving He is.

They cannot explain the loneliness and emptiness they feel in their heart.

They have no direction and fall into the traps of Satan, and they cannot understand why.

They have no power outside themselves.

They have no hope as they see the end of the world before them, no matter what the world does or says in trying to stop it.

They have no assurance in this life.

God has provided a sure, but straightforward way to approach Him, but it is a narrow path!

The Ark was made of shittim wood and over laid with gold.

Shittim wood is sometimes referred to as iron wood and is considered almost indestructible.

This wood symbolizes the human side of the Lord Jesus Christ, but also His sinlessness.

Heb 10:5  Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Heb 10:6  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Heb 10:7  Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Act 13:35  Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

The Ark was completely over laid with gold within and without.

This reminds us that our Lord Jesus retained His full deity in union with His fullness of humanity!

Our Lord voluntarily emptied Himself of some unique things to come to our world and be that salvation plan of our Holy God.

Php 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Php 2:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Php 2:8  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Heb 2:17  Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

We should keep in mind that there was never a time that our Lord Jesus was not God, the Creator of this world!

*****Exo 37:17  And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:

The candlestick was actually a lampstand.

It symbolized the Lord Jesus Christ as the Light in this dark world!

Joh 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

He was not only the Light in this dark world, but He is the Light of Life.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Without the Light that Our Lord has provided, all the world would be lost in darkness.

No one could see a way out of this darkness! Most are still blind to it today!

No one could see a purpose, or have meaning, or know the significance of what life is all about.

Life is not about these few years we live in these aging worthless bodies!

Life is about living eternally with the God of Life, the Lord Jesus Christ!

This first Lampstand was hammered out from one piece of gold. I cannot even fathom how this was accomplished.

This Lampstand illuminated the persons who came into the Holy of Holies. Remember God can see at all times.

This Light is for each believer! As each believer enters into the presence of God, the Light of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, will shine upon them.

Each believer then becomes Jehovah's light to this world!

Joh 12:36  While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

We must become children of the Light of Christ!

Psa 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

As darkness approaches, we must let our little light shine even brighter!

Joh 9:4  I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Joh 9:5  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

*****Exo 37:25  And he made the incense altar of shittim wood: the length of it was a cubit, and the breadth of it a cubit; it was foursquare; and two cubits was the height of it; the horns thereof were of the same.

The Altar of Incense was about 18 inches square and was covered with pure gold.

The Altar of Incense symbolized our prayers reaching into Heaven!

Our Prayers are the most powerful tool we have in our relationship with our Heavenly Father!

We really do not pray enough, and we always seem to forget about prayer when we are in need of something that only Jehovah can provide.

The Apostle Paul said we should stay in prayer mode all the time!

Many Christians have forgotten how to approach our Savior and our Heavenly Father, and it is through prayer!

God loves to hear our prayers! Our prayers are like a sweet aroma ascending up to our Heavenly Father.

Our prayers are so special to our Heavenly Father that He bottles them up so He can hear them again whenever He has not heard from us!

Rev 5:8  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Rev 8:3  And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

We must seek the Lord continuously, if we ever want to make things better in our nation!

2Ch 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

*****Exo 38:24  All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy place, even the gold of the offering, was twenty and nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

Exo 38:25  And the silver of them that were numbered of the congregation was an hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

Moses kept inventory of all the materials used to construct the Tabernacle.

We must remember God caused the Egyptians, through Holy Ghost conviction to provide all these things to the Children of Israel.

Of the gold and silver given freely and willingly for the work on the Tabernacle all was accounted for.

Jehovah makes us aware that all the gifts given to the Church, must be accounted for and nothing is to be wasted!

We do not think much about an old tent as a worship center, but there was in fact many precious metals and jewels used with the best of wood in God's design for this House of God!

We must understand that everything, "everything" in the design of the Tabernacle was intended to lead these people to the Messiah.

Gold reminds us of the Deity and the Glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is all we need!

Silver reminds us of the Atonement!

Exo 30:13  This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.

Exo 30:14  Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.

Exo 30:15  The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

Our "Atonement" is being reconciled to Jehovah, but not by silver and gold, but something much more precious!

It is by the precious blood of Jesus Christ!

1Pe 1:17  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

1Pe 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1Pe 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1Pe 1:20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

1Pe 1:21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

It all goes back to obedience to the Word of God and those He calls to do the work!

*****Exo 39:32  Thus was all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation finished: and the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.

It seems that in about five months all the work for the Tabernacle was completed.

We can say this was an amazing feat, but when the plan of God is followed by people that He has personally called, things happen accordingly.

It all begins with a great plan.

God's plan is perfect.

God's plan is precise.

God's plan cannot fail.

All the work was done. We have no need to present to God work that is not complete!

God entrusted this work to specific people!

Exo 31:2  See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

Exo 31:6  And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: "and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee";

God did not trust this work to unbelievers!

These workmen were taught of Jehovah, God the Holy Spirit. There was no room for error!

God did not trust this plan to be man-made. It was God's plan! There was no human input in this plan and no human was allowed to make changes to this plan!

All the work was done! There was none of the work on the Tabernacle left undone!

There is very little if any work that is done by the world that can be said to be completely done!

Something will always be lacking in man-made worship!

Once this work was done then there was a need of an inspection.

Exo 39:42  According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel made all the work.

Exo 39:43  And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.

We must understand that no matter what task the Lord calls us to do. No matter our profession. We are to work hard to accomplish what God has called us to do.

God does not call us just to see us fail!

We are to be faithful to the work God has called us to do!

We must understand that if we do our best, the results are in the hands of the Holy Spirit who called us!

1Co 15:57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

When the Lord is pleased with our work, He will show up when we worship Him!

*****Exo 40:34  Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Exo 40:35  And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The Tabernacle implies that Jehovah requires a specific worship!

The Tabernacle also implies Jehovah's sovereign rule over the Jews and having said this, it also implies complete Authority over the Church as everything about the Tabernacle will lead us to the Lord Jesus Christ!

1) Having only one gate to enter into the Tabernacle offers Jehovah's invitation to humanity.

Mat 7:13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:14  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

2) The burnt offering at the Altar shows our need for atonement.

2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

3) The Brazen Laver shows our need for sanctification.

Eph 5:26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Eph 5:27  That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

4) The Lampstand shows our need to walk with the Lord.

Jas 1:22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Jas 1:23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

Jas 1:24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

Jas 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

5) The table of shewbread shows our need for the Lord's nourishment.

Joh 6:32  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

Joh 6:33  For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

6) The Altar of incense shows our need for a continuous prayer life.

Jer 29:13  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

7) The Inner Veil, the Ark, the Mercy Seat shows our need for personal fellowship with Jehovah.

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If we love the Lord Jesus Christ, it will show, and the Tabernacle of God will lead us to Him!

Amen

The Healing Water of Life

The Waters Will Be Healed

Book of Ezekiel Chapter 47:1-12

Since Chapter 40 the Prophet Ezekiel has been giving us information about a Temple that has never been built in the history of the nation of Israel.

This Temple according to Ezekiel, will be built during the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ.

King Jesus will restore worship to the people of Israel, and we can only guess that He will show them where they went wrong.

Things we know:

1) The entire creation as we know it will be made as it was in the days of Adam.
2) All unbelievers have been removed by the wrath of God.
3) The time of the Church has ended, and the Church is with Christ Jesus forevermore.
4) The Lord will be dealing with the nation of Israel and the strangers that have helped them.
5) The Temple according to Ezekiel has been built.
6) King Jesus sits upon the throne of David (which means He is the government) in Jerusalem.
7) All the world will be ruled by King Jesus!

Ezekiel says that pure, healing waters will flow from this new Temple.

Spiritually speaking, water is a type of the Holy Spirit, but we should accept these healing waters just as written to us by Ezekiel, inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.

What did Jesus say?

Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

What did the Lord describe to the Apostle John?

Rev 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

What is the truth of this river from the Book of Revelation?

Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. "And let him that is athirst come". "And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely".

What can we learn from this water flowing from the Temple that Ezekiel describes which will be in "typology" a picture of the things of the New Heaven?

*****Eze 47:1 Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Eze 47:2 Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

This house of God is the Temple described by Ezekiel, which is not like any of the previous temples.

We should understand, that at this time near the beginning of the Millennial reign of Christ, all the world has undergone many physical changes. The lands will be restored as in the days of Adam and will all the world except a certain designated place, will resemble the Garden of Eden.

Jerusalem will be located upon the highest mountain and the Temple described by Ezekiel will be the House of King Jesus.

All the world will be ruled by King Jesus and He will be worshiped as God, because He is Jehovah God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit!

Water is one of the chief necessaries of life!

Before this event in our future, water could be very scarce in the area called Palestine by this world.

Besides the bodily needs of water to live, water is also used in the sense of purification, "washing away of sin" which is impossible as it can only wash away the filth of this world.

Cool clear water is a symbol of great good!

Muddy and stagnate water is a symbol of mire and filth!

Isa 57:20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
Isa 57:21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Troubled waters are a symbol of the multitude of nations.

Isa 17:12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
Isa 17:13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

These troubled waters were against the Lord Jesus Christ!

Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

After all the things of the old world are gone, we now see that the purest of all water will flow from beneath the new Temple, the House of God.

This water can now be called the "River of Life"!

Now we must not be mistaken, these things are not of Heaven but are of the restored earth after the devastation of those 7 terrible tribulation years!

We must know that without water there would be no life and without the House of God there would be no Spiritual Life!

As we will read that this water flowed south of the altar after it passed the eastern gate, then toward Judah, then means this water must have originated from the Holy of Holies!

The Millennial Temple will:

1) Demonstrate the Holiness of Jehovah.

The people of Israel had rebelled against Jehovah on and off since the time of Adam.
They had turned to idolatry and it became necessary that Jehovah would judge this people.

Now after they repented, they would witness the divine "grace" of Jehovah.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2) Provide a temporary dwelling place for the Shekinah Glory of God.

Remember the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah had returned in all His glory.

Eze 43:7 And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

3) To provide a place for the "memorial" of salvation.

We know that this nation of Israel now knew that they rejected the Messiah when He first came, but now, they had a personal relationship with Him as He had returned as He had promised.

The sacrifices that will be made in this new Temple of Ezekiel's vision, will be for memorial just as the feast of the Passover was for memorial.

To remember the day they were delivered for the second time, this time forever!

4) To provide a center for the Divine Government of Jehovah God.

The center for the government of all the world will be this Temple.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

5) To show the victory over the curse.

This river of life issuing and flowing southward in ever increasing volume of refreshment until it flows into the Dead Sea where it will cleanse and heal the Dead Sea of all impurities, and both banks of this river will be clothed with luxurious trees of never fading leaves and perfect fruit to provide medicine and food.

Even the desert south of the Dead Sea will be healed!

Joh 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

This flow of water from this Temple increased as it flowed toward the Dead Sea.

*****Eze 47:3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.
Eze 47:4 Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.
Eze 47:5 Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

The cubit can be estimated to be 18 inches so a thousand cubits would be 1500 feet.

Our lesson also says 1500 feet, but others will use different measurements for the cubit. Some use 21 inches, some 22 inches, some 18 inches we are using today. It is not worth an argument.

We should understand that the trickle of water that was coming from the Temple had now grown to a flow ankle deep in 1500 feet.

In another 1500 feet it was knee deep.

In another 1500 feet it was waste deep.

In another 1500 feet it was so deep Ezekiel could not pass over unless he swam.

Waters so deep that only the experienced swimmer could pass over them!

The direction of the flow of this River of Life was in the direction of the waste land of Israel.

In all the years of Israel, there has never been enough life-giving water flowing in this land.

One purpose of this water would be to nourish this land, cleanse this land, and bring life to dead wilderness and the desert.

The truth is, there has never been such a river as this one upon the face of this earth!

There were no other sources of water to increase the flow of this river, so Ezekiel was witnessing a true miracle.

According to some, it is 15 miles from the City of Jerusalem to the head of the Dead Sea and there has never been this much pure living water flow into the Dead Sea since the flood in Noah's day.

If we remember that the Temple of Ezekiel will be on the highest mountain of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea is the lowest place upon this earth, we can imagine how the flow of this river would increase just be gravity.

We must also know that the earth before the return of Christ cannot be compared to the earth during the Millennial reign of Christ!

What we should understand is that when King Jesus sits upon the throne in Jerusalem, He will transform this entire earth.

Israel will be as the Garden of Eden and a model or example of the New Jerusalem.

*****Eze 47:6 And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.

In all his days, Ezekiel had never seen real peace in Judah.

He had witnessed sin and destruction.
He had preached against these things.

The Lord now showed him such wonderful things, it would change his message of doom to the people of Israel to a message of hope.

Sure this river is in the future and during the Millennial reign of Christ, but it teaches us the lifegiving power of God.

Because the Dead Sea is the lowest place upon this earth, all filth and trash run into it and there is no life in the Dead Sea.

With all things dead removed, Israel will become the garden spot of all the world.

*****Eze 47:8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.
Eze 47:9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

The water of this river will bring life to everything that it touches. It will transform the land from death to life!

Animals will multiply.
Fish will abound in a sea that has never held fish.
Everything will live where there was only death.
The trees that grow along the river side will flourish with abundant fruit.

This land will be revived.

The power of this river is not in floods. The power of this river is in life!

In reality, the Dead Sea is the Sea of Sodom because it did not exist until Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone.

Even this land will be healed. This water flows from the Temple of God so in reality, it is a River of Grace!

It heals the corrupt nature of this land just as Christ heals the corrupt nature of all believers!

In reality mankind is like a dry place, is like as a salty barren land, but all these things did not hinder Christ coming as a river of life.

Joh 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
Joh 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

It is by Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit will flow upon us as the water of life!

Joh 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

I was a dry place until Jesus found me!
I was without strength.
I was without desire.
I was without life and Jesus now flows in me with His river of Grace.
My old dry parched nature is gone!

There will be a new song sung in all of Israel.

Isa 12:1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
Isa 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
Isa 12:3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
Isa 12:4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
Isa 12:5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
Isa 12:6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

Everything shall live that this river of life touches!

*****Eze 47:10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.

Engedi lay south of the Dead Sea and was west of the lake of Sodom.

Englaim was a city to the north. East of the Dead Sea and the Scriptures say fishermen will spread forth their nets on the west side of the that old Dead Sea which will become the Sea of life. Full of life and multitudes of fish.

This will be another miracle transformation!

The wilderness will be turned into a fisherman's dream!

It will take an enormous amount of pure water flowing into the Dead Sea continuously to make such a transformation.

It will be the same for the Word of God that will flow from the Temple of God, throughout this entire world as the pure Word of God will flow in abundance through that entire New World.

The fishers of men will cast the "Gospel" net into the sea of life and our Lord will still take those men and clean them and make something that our Father in Heaven will accept as His children!

Those of us who already know the Lord Jesus Christ can never forget the day He saved us.

It will be the same for all these!

All life flows from our Savior to become the eternal children of our Father in Heaven.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

In these Scriptures we see a picture of the "Amazing Grace" of God.

But there will still remain some miry places!

*****Eze 47:11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

1) There is always a need for salt.

There is a "Covenant of salt" made to these children of Israel.

2Ch 13:5 Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

This covenant of salt was a covenant of perpetual obligation.

Newborn children were rubbed with salt.

Eze 16:2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
Eze 16:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
Eze 16:4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

The disciples were likened to salt.

Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

2) Salt can also be a sign of wickedness.

Zep 2:9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
Zep 2:10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.

3) Salt can be a blessing.

Lev 2:12 As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.
Lev 2:13 And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

4) Salt can heal some waters.

Most of us know that salt is used in many swimming pools to make those waters safe to swim in.

2Ki 2:21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
2Ki 2:22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

Salt was to be offered and never wanting in every meat offering in the Temple!

Eze 20:40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
Eze 20:41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

We should also understand those of Sodom and Gomorrah will never be healed. Though there are several places in the Scriptures where we witness the wrath of God, I do not believe there is any of those places where death and destruction are so vivid as Sodom and Gomorrah, until we get to the apocalypse.

Deu 29:21 And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
Deu 29:22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
Deu 29:23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
Deu 29:24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

On the banks of the pure waters of this miracle river shall there be fruit trees for all occasions. For meat and for medicine and these trees would not be subject to seasons!

*****Eze 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

The seasons depict the true of the "Gospel"! The death the burial and the resurrection to new life. These things will not be necessary because all will accept the truth of the Gospel during the Millennial reign of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

In this New World there would be no tree of the knowledge of good and evil!

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

A lot of Scriptures are used but the most important thing is, that the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ will bring a healing to this world that will last for 1000 years.

The waters of this world will certainly be healed!

Amen

Let's Pray!
